Former General Secretary of the Christian Medical Fellowship, Dr Andrew Fergusson has published an important new book, which offers a Christian medical perspective on health and healing. Hard Questions about Health and Healing, which is published by the CMF (price £10) also aims to bridge the wide divide between health professionals (many of who are Christian) and Christians who regularly pray for healing.
Society is obsessed with health but is uncertain what it is. The ‘miracles’ of medicine seem to point to a disease and pain-free future but ultimately disappoint. Parts of the church never pray for healing whilst others place too much emphasis on it. Biblical and balanced, well researched yet very readable, the book provides credible answers to some of the hard questions that often perplex health professionals, pastors, thinking Christians and the general public:
In his preface, Dr Fergusson comments: “The way Christian health professionals think through health and healing is important because what we think determines what we do. Every country in the world is uncertain about the way ahead for healthcare, particularly with regard to resources. I hope this book will contribute to the best use of resources and will benefit the health of individuals and populations.”
