'Many similarities between Germany in the 1930s and Western Medicine today'
“The many similarities between Germany in the 1930s and the direction Western medicine is moving today should give cause for alarm”, writes Peter Saunders, General Secretary of the Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) in the Spring issue of CMF’s Triple Helix magazine.
In a detailed review of how the holocaust arose from small beginnings, Saunders cites four key factors which led to the progression to genocide – favourable public opinion; a handful of willing physicians; economic pressure and no prosecution for those involved. He gives a stark warning: “The growing acceptance of euthanasia in Australia, the US and Europe run contrary to post-war ethical declarations adopted by the World Medical Association. Christian doctors, he emphasises, have no room for complacency.”
Other highlights of Triple Helix, which is published quarterly, are ‘The Return of Eugenics’, by Ben Mitchell; Euthanasia and Autonomy by Andrew Fergusson and David Short’s guidelines on ‘Imitating Christ in Our Private Life’.
