The Department of Health consultation on the collection of abortion statistics will be used to help develop the Abortion Statistics Bulletin. The CMF submission raised concerns about inaccuracy of abortion statistics for fetal disability - which have been shown to be underreported by the National Down Syndrome Cytogenetic Register – and concerns that many private abortion providers do not routinely record and link with the patient NHS number.
