Law Commission review on surrogacy

Published: 13th October 2016

The Law Commission has invited views on a number of points of law as it relates to surrogacy.

In its response CMF argues there is no need for reform as the law currently works well in protecting surrogate mothers and their children. Reforms that would prioritise commercial interests, or the rights of prospective commissioning parents, would inevitably remove some of these protections. CMF further suggests that responsibility for review of the law should rest with Parliament, not the Law Commission.

CMF's reponse to this review can be found in full here.
