The Council has invited updates from its 2016 consultation on ethical issues around genome editing. Our submission to this new consultation is similar to the one we provided in 2016. We distinguish between genome-editing techniques in somatic (non-reproductive) cells, a promising area of ethical development, and germline genome editing which is the main focus of CMF's ethical and practical concerns.
