Submission on Section 9 of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2019 on the introduction of regulations to govern the provision of abortion services in NI

Section 9 of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2019, introduced by the Westminster Parliament whilst the Northern Ireland (NI) Assembly was suspended, instructed the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) to introduce regulations to govern the provision of abortion services in NI. Those regulations will, if implemented, impose on NI one of the most liberal abortion policies in Europe. As part of the process, the 2020 Regulations come under scrutiny by two Parliamentary committees, and CMF made submissions to both.
