HFEA survey on modernising the regulation of fertility treatment and research involving human embryos

The Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) holds the view that human life begins with fertilisation. Further, we believe that human life has intrinsic value, being made in the 'image' of God, its Creator. The weakest and most vulnerable of human beings, including the human embryo, are worthy of the greatest respect and protection. For this reason, we regard the destruction and disposal of human embryos as fundamentally unethical.
We support those changes that will do away with clumsy bureaucracy but not those that would dilute the effectiveness and robustness of regulation. We are mindful of the wellbeing and protection of those struggling with infertility, AND the welfare and protection of embryos. Commercial interests are primarily concerned with profits, a priority inimical to the best interests of patients, adults or unborn.
