5.4 Other personal health and safety matters
- The commonest cause of morbidity and mortality among expatriates overseas is road-traffic accidents.
- Avoid travelling after dusk, if you can, and wear a seat belt if at all possible.
- Never resist violent theft.
- Remember that if a child needs to return to the UK for treatment, you need cover that allows a parent to accompany the child.

Take a plentiful supply of personal medications. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, remember to take spares and your prescription with you.
