Assisting suicide debate not reached

Published: 24th March 2009

In planning the House of Commons' business on 23 March for the Report and Third Reading of the Coroners and Justice Bill, the government put New Clause 42 (Assisting Suicide) last. In consequence, that item was not reached and there was no debate and no division.

Patricia Hewitt's amendment is therefore lost, but others may table similar amendments when the Bill reaches the House of Lords.
