The 2012 Rendle Short Lecture will be given by Dr Tim Lyttle as part of the National Graduates' Conference at the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick, Derbyshire 27-29 April. Please invite fellow-Christian medics to come as an introduction to CMF membership. Book online.

Lennox leads the way

Dr John Lennox was warmly received as the main speaker at CMF's 2012 National Student Conference. More than 300 students from 31 medical schools came to the weekend in Swanwick on 10-12 February. The first of Dr Lennox's three Bible talks on 'Joseph: Chief of Staff' is now available as a podcast. Also see our photo album.

Student delegate Tobi Isaac Obisanya tweeted after the conference: 'Every year I leave feeling re-invigorated that I can really serve God in my profession & make a difference.'

International Medical Student Conference (IMSC)

A total of 25 international students from 20 different countries attended the IMSC held at CMF HQ in London. Here's a flavour of the event on video.

Values Added

CMF and PRIME are piloting a new course together. Values Added is a programme for junior doctors, which adds a Christian perspective to their training. The five-session pilot course, 'Concepts of Whole Person Medicine,' will be evaluated with the aim of launching the course nationally. Email Pablo Fernandez to join a pilot course near you.

The CMF Christmas Appeal for our student ministry has raised £54,000 but is still £46,000 short of its target. It closes on 29 February so it is not too late to give by post or on line.

And finally…

CMF member Dr Victoria Parsonson (who's working in Madagascar) sent us a report of a typically unusual day on her ward round: 'I spent the afternoon trying to remove the legs of a roasted giant grasshopper from a small child's tonsil. Health promotion advice: next time any of you eat a giant grasshopper, remove the legs first...' (Ed. note taken!)

'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.' Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
