Allied professions
Much time has gone into building links with various groups working with nurses, allied health professionals and others in the health and caring professions. Annie Leggett is developing a new ministry among Christian nursing students, making contacts primarily through churches and the UCCF London team.
Since October she has been meeting with small groups of nurses in homes, hospitals and the CMF office to lead Bible studies, address pastoral issues, etc. However most of her time is being spent just making contacts and connections, in London initially, and increasingly now in the Home Counties. Numbers are small but growing, and a committed core of nursing students and graduates is definitely interested in seeing this ministry grow.
One of Annie's challenges is finding qualified nurse supporters to be local and regional volunteers, and a small group is beginning to coalesce around her. Please pray for this small, fragile, but fast developing new CMF ministry, and do contact Annie if you know any student or qualified nurses she could connect with.
Conferences
On 2 April Peter Saunders will be speaking in London on the big ethical challenges; in September there will be a nurses' retreat in Bristol; and in March 2012 a major national conference for nurses and allied health professionals at Hothorpe Hall. Details on the website.
Internationally we are working towards several key events, including the Hope for Europe 2011 Conference in Budapest, the Student Nurses Spiritual Care Conference in Amsterdam in November, and the NCFI World Congress in Chile in 2012.

Obituaries
Michael Absolon (q Cambridge and The London 1957; d late December 2010) was a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in Southampton, and became ordained.
Margaret Bancewicz (d 17 November 2010) from a rare form of lung cancer. She leaves her retired surgeon husband John, and their scientist daughter Ruth, who is active in Christian circles.
John Clark (q Glasgow 1950; d 31 January 2011). 'Jack' was a clinical assistant at Johnstone Hospital.
John Cook (q St Andrew's 1955; d – CMF informed December 2010) acquired DTM&H from Liverpool in 1956 and later worked in general practice. He died in a nursing home in Eastbourne.
William Gray (q Belfast 1953; d 29 November 2010) became a GP in Chesterfield and was the course organiser for the Chesterfield VTS.
Stanley Lindsay (q Belfast 1950; d – CMF informed February 2011) was a missionary doctor at Kapsowar, Kenya and later became Senior Clinical Medical Officer for South Bedfordshire DHA.
Denis Roche (q The Middlesex 1951; d – CMF informed February 2011) worked in occupational health and became the International Medical Adviser to Interserve. He was a loyal supporter of CMF national activities.
Peter Simmons (q Barts 1950; d 18 December 2010) became a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Free and associated hospitals. Keenly supporting CMF national activities, he was the father-in-law of John Alford, office manager at CMF from 1990 until his death in 2004.
