Many Christians are suspicious of intellectual debate with Muslims, saying it leads only to argument, but this is simply not the case. Consider, for example, the following note from a Muslim enquirer which recently appeared on the internet web-site.
'My Dear Brother in Islam, I will admit that I was quite disturbed by the information presented on this site, and I urge my fellow Muslims to read this site and become acquainted with its message. I also urge those who read it not to adopt the traditional Muslim "Lies! It’s all lies!" response. Only through calm and rational intellectual analysis can we find the answers....'
At loss to repond
'This debate challenges a number of things about Islam: that Muhammad was indeed a prophet, that the Qur’an was indeed canonized in the years 645-650 AD, and that the Qur'an is the orignal word of God and not of man.... I'm at a loss to respond to the arguments presented... and because of that, I find myself starting to doubt the things about Islam that I have been taught throughout my life....
'I don’t have the answers to these questions, but you can rest assured that I’m going to spend any time I have available trying to find them. I believe they do exist, but it’s going to take a lot of work, and a lot of objective analysis to find them... I ask that my fellow Muslims aid me in this matter and not dismiss the information present at this web site as mere Christian treachery. Doing so will not help validate Islam in the eyes of those who doubt it.’
