In 1992 the Finance Committee of the Muslim Parliament in the UK drew up a set of objectives which included the following:
- To research and write critiques of Western philosophy, culture, political systems and civilisation (i.e. to 'rewrite history' from an Islamic viewpoint).
- To present the Muslim lifestyle as moral and materially successful (in contrast with the declining standards of the West).
- To assist Western converts to Islam by providing funds for their resettlement and marriage if necessary.
- To train Muslim students for mission in universities and colleges.
- To invest in training and literature. Good quality literature including translations of the Qur'an, apologetics, and testimonies of converts is often distributed free of charge.
