The year-end figures have been very encouraging indeed, and we are immensely grateful for the significant generosity of very many members in funding the Fellowship’s work in addition to their membership subscription (membership subscriptions contribute only 25% of the Fellowship’s total income, and cover 30% of the expenditure). The Fellowship finished 2001 with a surplus of £70,000 (2000 surplus was £24,709), having discounted the transfer of funds from the Christian Medical Fellowship Trust Ltd (which is a one off transfer of all the Trust’s resources). This has also been achieved at a time of increased activity, with a 12% year on year increase in expenditure due to greater ministry. Costs have been saved internally, Gift Aid tax recovered has almost doubled since 1999 (£51,000 to £94,000), and we have for the first time brought £16,000 of publications stock into the accounts. Thank you very much indeed, and thank you, our Lord God, for your gracious provision.
This healthy position has given the Executive confidence to press ahead with the appointment of Dr Mark Pickering as parttime Student Secretary, and also to search for a full time medically qualified assistant General Secretary to share the load carried by Peter Saunders, and to increase the development of the Fellowship’s ministry.
The General Committee will accept the accounts in June. Please ask the office if you would like to see the accounts, once they have been accepted.
