Over a year has passed since CMF’s second aim was amended to read ‘To encourage Christian doctors and medical students to be witnesses for Christ among all those they meet.’ In that time we have held sixteen Saline Solution day conferences at various venues around the country: recently in Nottingham, Exeter, Margate, Brighton, Norwich and Stoke-on- Trent, with further modifications to the original programme.
The feedback has been very positive and clearly, for many who have participated in the conferences, the opportunity to rethink how to integrate Christian faith and medical practice has come at an most people have no connection with ‘organised church’ it seems that God is speaking to many Christians, including healthcare professionals, about the importance of being supported and trained by their churches to be effective witnesses in the workplace.
For those who would like to test the water first, we are running short ‘taster’ seminars on integrating faith and practice, which can be a 60-90 minute session within a bigger event or run as an evening meeting. Several who have participated in these seminars have subsequently chosen to attend a day conference. The student staffworkers are also happy to lead these seminars for students. Do ask if you would like one in your patch.
We have further conferences planned as follows:
- Fri 11 February Hull
- Wed 16 February Essex
- Sat 19 February London
- Thu 3 March Newcastle
- Fri 11 March Aberdeen
- Sat 9 April Amsterdam
- Wed 4 May Southampton
- Wed 11 May Birmingham
