Know Your Bible 35

Answers

  1. The Lord offers peace to the contrite, ‘but the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. 'There is no peace,' says my God, 'for the wicked'’. (Is 57:20-21)
  2. Solomon warns of the loss of teeth, failing manual dexterity, deafness, vertigo, mental clouding, visual impairment and impotence, which await us in old age. ‘Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come....’ (Ec 12:1-7). We should honour God at the height of our powers, not as a last minute gesture that may never occur.
  3. Answer = C: ‘Not everyone who says to me ,'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.’ Jesus was blunt about the link between real faith and obedience. To some he will say ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Mt 7:21-23)
